Food businesses will find it easier to trade at events in the City of Canning, City of Gosnells and Town of Victoria Park with a new joint permit aimed at reducing red tape launched this week.
The Simplified Trading Partnership Permit allows food businesses to obtain one permit to trade at approved events in all three local government areas, instead of applying to each council. Businesses can apply through any of the three councils, then simply notify the other local governments online when they wish to trade at events in their areas.
While the new permit will mean businesses only pay one application fee instead of three, application fees for permits have been waived until July 2021 in recognition of the COVID-19 impact on many small businesses, particularly those in the events sector.
The cities of Canning and Gosnells and the Town of Victoria Park are all Small Business Friendly Local Governments, having committed to improving the operating environment for small businesses in their areas.
The permit partnership demonstrates how local governments can collaborate to help small business owners in their communities. We’ve been working with the partnership since November 2019.
