The City of South Perth has become the forty-sixth local government to join the SBDC’s Small Business Friendly Local Governments (SBFLG) initiative.
There are nearly 5,000 small businesses operating in the City of South Perth, according to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data.
By signing the Small Business Friendly Charter, the City has committed to employing better practice when engaging with their local small business community.
City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said “By signing the charter, the City has agreed to a number of actions to help businesses including making on-time payments to small businesses, offering enhanced customer service, having a process in place to handle disputes, and working to reduce red tape.”
The City has also outlined additional goals to support local small businesses, including promotions, relationship building and enhancement of interactions between existing businesses, and continuing to engage with neighbouring local governments to deliver benefits for the surrounding area.
Small Business Friendly is growing
The SBFLG initiative was developed to recognise the local government authorities that are committed to actively supporting small businesses in their local area. More than 70 per cent (166,532) of Western Australian businesses are now operating within small business friendly areas.
